Overview

Northern KwaZulu Natal has many natural and splendid beauties, but little can compare with the superb wildlife to be seen on the shores of Lake Jozini (also known as Pongolapoort Lake).

On board Shayamanzi Houseboat, soak up the stunning scenery of the Lebombo Mountains and Pongola Game Reserve. Enjoy calm serenity on the water or the thrill of Tiger fishing!

Experience the first Houseboats in South Africa – the only one of their kind. Shayamanzi is all about taking time out to appreciate Africa’s special wonders.

The whining reel breaks the silence as your fishing rod bends to the limit. Then the spectacular colours of a tail walking ‘tiger’ light up the water surface, and experience that neither the novice nor avid angler will forget.

Location

Passengers embark from a jetty on the Northern shores of the Pongola River. You begin your experience at Shayamoya Tiger Fishing and Game Lodge, where you leave your vehicles in the safe parking area.

Enjoy a welcoming drink on the large sundeck of the central lodge which has stunning views overlooking the lake and Lebombo Mountains.

You are then transferred by open landcruiser through the Phongolo Nature Reserve to the water’s edge, where the Shayamanzi crew will meet you by tender boat and escort you onto the Houseboat.

Shayamanzi I :

  • Is a 25 meter by 8 meter, double pontoon houseboat launched by Dr. Narend Singh (Kwa-Zulu Natal Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Affairs) on the 18th October 2002.

Shayamanzi II :

  • Is a 30 meter by 8.6 meter, double pontoon houseboat launched in September 2007. She is a dream cruiser!
  • 3 Levels
  • 10 Air-conditioned, en-suite cabins
  • 6 Crew
  • 3 Tender boats
  • 12 Seater jacuzzi

TIGER FISHING

Lake Jozini is the only water in South Africa where you find the ferocious fighting Tiger Fish, an African game fish, which sends you thrills as it jumps out the water, throwing his head from side to side trying to get off your line. Tackle and rods are available for hire.

Shayamanzi I : Exclusivity

  • Exclusive use of entire boat for 1 – 12 passengers : R16 500 p/n (Includes fully serviced accommodation, two skippered tender boats, fuel.)
    Out of season exclusive boat rate R13 200

  • Minimum stay of 2 nights

Shayamanzi II : Exclusivity

  • Exclusive use of entire boat for 1 – 20 passengers : R27 500 p/n (Includes fully serviced accommodation, two to three skippered tender boats, fuel.)
    Out of season exclusive boat rate R22 000
  • Meals (Including breakfast, lunch, teas, snacks and dinner) R410 p/p/p/n
  • Minimum stay of 2 nights

Extra guests on top deck sharing an ablution facility Shayamanzi I & II :

Transfer Rates :

  • R135 p/p
  • This fee includes the transfer from Shayamoya Game Lodge to and from the jetty to Shayamanzi; also includes the entrance fee to the game reserve.
  • Lunch on day of arrival either at Shayamoya or onboard Shayamanzi R75.00 p/p

Bookings within 6 weeks of cruise date:

Bookings outside 6 weeks of cruise date:

  • Minimum stay 2 nights for 2 persons
  • Optional lunch on day of arrival either at Shayamoya or onboard Shayamanzi R75.00 p/p


ROD AND FISHING TACKLE HIRE

Rod Hire @ R105 per rod & tackle per day. Any tackle lost or damaged will be charged for.


PAYMENT

50 % Deposit on confirmation of cruise and the remaining 50 % 30 days prior to cruise date.


CANCELLATION POLICY

50 % of full invoice amount if cancelled less than 60 days prior to cruise date. 100 % of full invoice amount if cancelled less than 30 days prior to cruise date. 10 % Administration fee on any cancellation.
RATES VALIDITY
